    Old School

I know this is in no way a good shot.
    Shot in late afternoon
    august sun.
I plan to go back soon and re-photograph this abandoned school.
It is on a main road, with farms all around it.
I hope to get there in early spring, before the trees are fully green.
Any sugestions on how to photograph it are appreciated...

    Give it a few tries.

Get in closer and shoot some details.

    B&W might be good too.

Make sure your images aren't tilted.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Old School

I think it will help if you get there before the tree gets fully leafed out and maybe some of the grass and brush in front won't be in the way either.
Shoot every angle you can and I'd strongly suggest some vertical.
    Fill flash?

Look around for better angles and as MB says get in close.

A worthy subject, snoid, though it's location near the road (and cars) sort of diminishes an otherwise isolated and abandoned feeling. Can you try maneuvering around to elim that car and road? Would definitely add to the shot. Not so centered or chopped off at the bottom. that's a strange tilt that one side of the building has, makes it seem like the photo needs straightening, but that would cause the back part to be crocked. I like the right side field a lot - try emphasizing the building against that. And your idea of catching it during a different season is sound. Try early morning or at sunset also.

    Re: Old School

Well, if at all possible - bring a ladder, or something to get you higher, looking up into a building I don't think ever makes a good shot, angling down or perfectly perpendicular are the best ways. And don't let us see that road.

Also - depending on the surroundings and the way the sunlight hits the school, try for it near dawn or dusk.

Bonus points for going back in a really cool thunderstorm! ;)

I'm sure you will find a bunch of things here, just look at the brick work pattern on the edges, nice. Getting inside if you can do so safely would/could be interesting too. S
