    Old School

It was also a church. My work partners wife actually went to the first grade here. It opened in 1897, I am unsure when it closed.

Great subject, Greg and nicely framed. I wonder what this scene might hold if the light was at your back

This is a really nice picture...I think the only thing I would do is make it a tad brighter to see more detail....

    Re: Old School

Good composition. I, too, would like to see some light on the building or expose more for it and put up with the burned out sky.
If you can get to it I think its worth a early am or late evening shot.

Gary, jgredline, Frog thanks. I have been to this location several times and the lighting was bad everytime. Seems like it's always backlit.LOL I am also working witha new monitor that is a bit on the bright side.

    Greg,

This is a wonderful old school and a great subject. I like the composition, but I have to agree with the others on the lighting.

wow beautiful that's a pretty incredible shot, excellent work. I agree with the others that it looks like maybe it could use bit of brightness or lighting, but damn near perfect to me beyond that.
    but then...what do I know

    Re: Old School

Eric, PC. I went back and tried to bring up the brightness on the building and also saturated it a touch. I hope this helped? I used the magic wand tool to seperate it from the sky. I need to learn more about seperating the sky from the foreground with complex subjects like this. Thanks

    Re: Old School

Greg; what a fantastic collection of old barns, buildings, railways and schoolhouses like this you have around your area. You are very lucky. This is a brilliant scene and as has been pointed out the building itself needs some pop.
In circumstances such as these I would often do a rough feathered selection around the building initially and see how the selection would react to a levels/curves adjustment. It often works wonders.

I like your DOF, I like the colors and the composition-the sky is great. That is one sweet building for a photographer and well worth revisiting time and again. Only next time take a view camera-the subject is worth it.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Old School

Tom's suggestion about selecting a doing a levels adjust could really pop this thing.
    I'm still admiring this structure. Charming . . .
