    Old general store

These are some more from my roll of Ilford. This is an old general store, or at least what is left of it. It is quite interesting since it was built entirely over a creek in the middle.

    Re: Old general store

Built over a stream? Would wager they milled grain or thought about it!

Like the first two the best, even with the exposure problems in the first one. The 'keep out and no tresspassing' signs in the others just breaks the mood. The stairway with the dilapidated chair at the top just says 'waiting' as in for demolition or further decay.

Did you scan the negs or the photos? Unless you get really great prints, the negs usually work a lot better and certainly give far better options. The first picture could be adjusted so there's more detail and contrast in the darker areas.

The first photo I believe would be stronger if the buildings and utility poles on the right were cropped off completly. Look forward to more b/w's!

Technically, I don't feel qualified to comment, but esthetically, I like the feel I get from looking at them. Kind of a 40's, 50's aura. Good job.;)

    Re: Old general store

Gez, "old" is right... this place has seen better days. It could collapse in the center any day now.

The shots are good, the first one being my favorite. They seem to be getting scarier as they go down. You did a nice job documenting it from the outside. The only small criticism I have is that the lower shots seem a little busy, but given the fact that the place is falling apart that's to be expected. Would have been nice if you somehow (safely) could have gone inside and seen what was there (ghosts?)

Nice choice of black and white btw. This looks a lot like parts of W Va that I've seen.
