very nice shot, though it seems to be leaning down on the left side just a bit. Composition is fantastic.

Why do consider the composition fantastic? While it's nice to lead the eye with a pretty basic composition guide like a path, after the eyes reaches the target it's pretty much the abrupt end of the journey, also because the main subject lacks enough details and the rest of the image just doesn't add any strength to the shot. The image also lacks depth and the sky doesn’t impress, some nice clouds could have really lifted this shot. I’m not so fond of entering the photo in the center bottom, the horizon splitting the scene in two or the lack of interesting foreground details either. And it might sound picky, but I strongly believe in 100% straightl horizons in landscape shots, unless there is a good reason to go overboard.

Aaron, I like the way everything is laid out here. I think with the path right in middle of the picture it would have made your eyes lead more over to the bench (but I'm not sure if there was anything over to the left that would have added/took away from the photo). But I think the distance is nice, giving this picture a feeling like you're really walking by and capturing the moment. There is a lot of sky, but I don't think it takes away from the picture. I'm not sure cropping it would have really added to the picture. And of course the BW really makes this a great shot. I like it!

Thanks for the comments Nat and Michael This was a total grab shot. The 2 guys were watching me shoot and the moment they turned away I snapped this. Normally I straighten my horizons before posting, this one slipped through the cracks... DOH! :mad2: Not much I can do about the skies lately, just lots of flat, blah, bland, foggy, hazy crap I still kind of like this one though. I'll see what I can do with it in printing as I don't like to do any real processing to my scans other than some levels and, in this case, a bit of vignetting.

the horizon was crooked? *yawn* I swear these night shifts are going to be the death of me and my eyes! i didn't even notice. and i know exactly what you mean about the skies. during the day we've had some pretty blah weather but i shouldn't complain because the sunsets have been A-MAZING.

So I saw! :O Wish I had some sunsets like that here to work with. It's been pretty overcast or hazy every day and not the good overcast with clouds full of character but, the crappy flat clouds
