    Re: Old Dumper

Here is a second edit. I'm not sure which i like best. I thought the tighter crop of the first version was perhaps lacking any landscape reference but looking at it again i think it works well.
what version do you think is best here? Version 2 also has a slightly different pp treatment.
    This is version 2

Version 2 for me. I like the additional space in front of the truck. Processing wise they are both great.

I prefer the softer, more pastel, colours in the wider shot.
As well as the composition change.

Great find! I like the extra room on the second because it gives the feeling that it can drive away through that space.

I have to pick the color on the first, though – could be a very faded red. I can’t think of any reason the color on the second would be on a truck.

Also, I really want this truck.

I like them both, but the second is my favorite. Nice find and good work in the capture.

Yeap...No2 is better, the crop aids the composition and the color tones suit better with the given mood

    Re: Old Dumper

I really like the first one the best. I think the colors are warmer. I like the composition of it because there is more detail to the truck and I have a soft spot for old trucks.

I was down in the dominican republic last year. It was like cuba! They have a ton of old vehicles there, I was in heaven!!

    Either way, great shot!!

    Re: Old Dumper

I would be happy with either, but a combination of the two would suit me best -- color of #1 and comp of #2. Nice find!

Like #1, I spend most of my working day up close and personal with machinery ( Not often this vintage though... ) so the closer crop and colour works better for me.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Re: Old Dumper

Hey all, thanks much for the feedback on this one. After coming back to look at it now with fresh eyes I do like a bit of what each version had to offer. The second edit looks a bit flat in color and tone. I do like the desaturated look, but i think the colors in this truck are really part of the beauty of it.
So, here is a final version that combines a slightly tighter crop and richer color and warmth, but still less than the first.
Thanks for the time to comment here.

    Re: Old Dumper

The color is spot on, but I must say that I feel for some reason that the crop to the right feels it a bit tight. Dont know if its an optical thing or what but I was more comfortable with the previous wider crop...my 2 cents

    Thanks, Paula.
Rob, i know what you mean. i do want to bring the truck out more to appreciate its old texture and detail and yet keep some space in front for breathing room. I thought this was the best of all the compromises.
    thanks for the comments

I like all the version. The third one is the best in my opinion bring back so pop as it is a bit more saturated, also the slight wider angle gives let's it breath a bit and gives us a bit more of the surrounding. very nicely done!
