This Old Door. . .

It's a lovely wreck with all those latches, hinges and diagonal braces. But what is best is that blank black hole that invites us to the other side.
I like the pink hinges too and it looks like the painter did a sample area before applying the final colour to the ironmongery.

I have to disagree with Tom. I love the door but the window looks PSed black. Some slight lighting or shadows would add a bit of mystery to what's inside.

I do think it needs more contrast or change to b/w.
Compositionally, I think it would benefit from a prop leaning beside the door. Shovel, rake, broom, etc.

nice subject material and if theres a great photo in there im sure youll find it.

I agree. I think that an old rusty shovel leaning next to the door would be very nice.

The pic is well composed. The cross on the door is very 3-dimensional. I especially like the red square on the right as it complements with the dark square on the door. Well done!

Thanks for all your great comments on this. I too like the pure black hole in the window, but understand how it may look too stark against the rest. It was not deepened black any and there is nothing in there to try to expose.
I also agree that a shovel or rake,etc. would add to the shot by giving it some deeper dimension. Must make a note to have shovel and rake in the car with me when I go shooting. lol

I'm with OB on this one .. a shovel would look set up imo. Now - what if one of the door panels was just slightly ajar?

Yes, it probably would come over that way. I think Mike has the right idea in having one of the doors slightly open for more dimensional eye candy
