    Old Anchors...

Saw this a few weeks ago and thought it made an interesting composition. It's some rusty old anchors stacked up near the ocean here in RI with a tire resting against them. What do you think? +/- comments welcome. Thank you.

I like aspects of this composition. Did you have flash on?
its just the anchors have rather ghostly dark edges, i think personally it makes them look more interesting. The image if anything is slightly over lit, play around with the levels a little and see what you get. Nice composition.

Maybe an alternative composition would be without the tire or twigs?

I would like to have seen the complete anchors in a different composition including some of their environment. A return visit is a must because you have spotted a subject with great potential.

I agree compleatly, lots to play with here in context and out of context, if you crop in you could get some really nice pattern and textrue pieces out of this. Lucky to be honest can you mail an anchor to me?

    Nate,

Interesting subject - I don't personally think the tire and the concrete do nothing for this photo. I do like the textures of the anchors and as others have said lots to play with in this photo. It looks as if the lighting points to midday and it would be nice to see this photo taken with a setting sun.

Laurie - what size boat have you got, because your going to have to have a big un!

    Re: Old Anchors...

I like the tire against the anchors. Makes a stark contrast and setting. I think cropping down from the top just to remove the blown out area above would help. This lighting at mid day( I assume) is too harsh and have washed out the deep clors of these anchors. some ps would help, but shooting at an early or late time of the day would be best.
