    Ok SP time!!!

Cringes. I really don't like being on that side of the camera!
But i thought I would show my face to all my lovely friends here.
I used my remote control for these.

Good shots Alison. It's always nervewracking to be the subject instead of the photographer. I prefer the color one just because with the black and white, I feel the crop is too tight and the hair infront of the right eye is too much!

    Good job!

I like the black and white too,...but one major mistake. Number one rule of Portraiture 101....Never have more than one light reflected in the eye of the model.
Get busy with Photoshop and in a minute or less, it will be much, much, better.

;) Other than that, a really good self-portrait.

Major mistake? I didn't think there was a rule about catchlights.
One person tells me catchlights at 2:50 is good. Another tells me 2 catchlights is bad.
Is it really a rule or just people's likes and dislikes?

Did you apply glow./blur to the B&W conversions?
    They look softer somehow.

Beautiful shots Ali! I like your third submission best. I see you also went for a darker background than you usually use. I think it looks very elegant and simple a beautiful portrait. I'm sure your hubby will want one for his desk now. I thin your catch light looks natural and appropriate but that's my two cents.

Nice work. I think you did just fine!

You will find it commonly indicated in most books by photographers on portraiture as well as a judging criteria for portraiture in salon competitions. I got shot down for it in a major competition, so it is something I remember.

OH OH ! IS that red hair i see before me ? i too had red hair, turning grey now, and so was considered mad as a hatter. You are as pretty as i expected and by your expression and eyes i would say you have a great zest for life and are fun company.
    Nice to see you, Bobby

Hi Alison...Self Portraits are difficult...One never likes photos of themselves (except my youngest daughter)...I like the loose B/W best..You seem to have handled the "subject" well..
And no,,,,I'm not posting a SP here...I frighten children and small dogs!!

Hi Alison....In polite circles 2 catchlights in each eye breaks the rules...I don't associate within polite circles so I can break the rules...
The thinking is or was that there is only one natural light source,,the sun..therefore only one catch per eye..I believe 2 catchlights per eye look better than no catchlights..
