oh no! it's a cute dog picture

I feel like I need to shoot and post more, so I figured I post this one of our 12 wk old mini schnauzer getting his first taste of our first snow.

    made me smile

framing is a bit odd, wish he whole dog was on, or maybe that it was shot from lower

    good b&w

Aww. I love the black and white in this photo. Looks like he was having fun! Good focus on the eyes.

Awesome shot, agreed on the tight composition.

I actually love the framing on this. And I like the perspective. It's always just melted me to see my puppies looking up at me like that, as if they didn't get what was happening. I do find the eyes to be soft just a bit. Shutter speed may have been a bit too slow because it looks a bit like camera shake.

Only thing that comes to me is maybe cropping out some of the white at the bottom, taking the nose out of the center. I like it a lot, though. You wonder if those eyes are questioning or accusing!

I agree that cropping the extra off the bottom would improve the composition, but love everything else about the photo.

Thanks everyone for the f/b. I agree with the eyes being a bit soft. I like the 1x1 format personally, but I can see how the centeredness could be an issue.

Re: oh no! it's a cute dog picture

When I first looked at the picture, I thought it extended across my widescreen monitor. That put the dog roughly in the upper left corner of a rule of thirds composition, which I liked very much. It wasn't until after I read others comments that I realized it was square. I like the selective focus and the black and white works. I'd like to see it with the the black line in lower left cloned out and picture extended to the right but only white (assuming you have the rest of the dog in the original shot). Cute dog

Wow, cute indeed! Only thing's missing is the spot color. Would be a great Xmas card (next year now).

Not much spot color to be had...This is a b&w conversion, but really all it did was remove the blue cast in his fur.
