1. I had lots of sky but cropped it out because it was boring.
2. It's supposed to be way over-processed! That was my point, at least in concept. I love playing with effects like that. The harshness and over saturation is what leads to #3 on your list. Some people like this sort of stuff, others hate it. Maybe I'll try to convert the image into a watercolor look when I have the time.
3. The image reminded me of some old movie I once saw (title forgotten) about a traveling carnival from another world. Carnivals such as that can lead to only one thing: Trouble!

The processing works for me in this because of the nature of the subject. I think the cartoonish, graphic art look of this appeals to me in this vivid saturated Carnival scene.
I do feel the crop is too tight and agree about more sky and less fg.
