    The Ocean is Big...

At least to a little girl like this... Sophia on the beach, in this one...

P.S. I put a bunch of shots on this blog: www.julsophoceancity.blogspot.com if you want to look. Some I've posted here already, and some are snapshot-y...

    Re: The Ocean is Big...

I'm not sure what I think of this one. I like the idea, however, I would either like to see her face or more of the ocean. Without her face it needs something to grab you. Without the ocean I need to see her face and without her face I need to see the ocean....does that make sense?

Emily - Excellant shot. My only comment is that I wish she was a little closer to the water so that the ocean (and waves) were a little larger relative to her.

I like your (digital?) equipment btw... The colors are relaxing

Yes, it would be nice to know what you are using and the settings.
Your exposure and colours are amazing for wide open spaces in the sunlight!

I would have to agree with the others Emily.
Either less beach, show her face or more water.
You could though crop it, as is, to take out some of the beach.
    Keep shooting!

    Re: The Ocean is Big...

GB, Alison & Brian...thanks for your thoughts and comments here as well.

I do use a digital camera...the Canon Rebel XT...and with these shots, I actually had my telephoto lens on, because I was trying to catch some shots of the gulls, and a surfer that was down the beach a ways. Both my girls were doing fun stuff though, so of course, I grabbed a bunch of them too.

Brian, I will experiment a bit with cropping on this one. It's cropped on the sides a little as it is, but I'm going to see how a couple different things work.

    Thanks again all!

I like this one, she does look very small... and her pose suggests that she 'feels' small as well

    Re: The Ocean is Big...

It would have been nice to have her standing knee deep in the water to give the waves depth in realtion to the little girl. But over all its a nice phot, also showing her face would have been nice.

    Re: The Ocean is Big...

    Emily,

I agree with the comments on the bigger ocean...

However this is one to cherish for a long time - I can imagine the look of wonder on her face looking to see what is out there.
