Taking to the streets of Singapore with a tripod, would appreciate any input as this is really new territory for me!

    Herriot,

I love this shot. What a great contrast of old, "gallery" type buildings and the highrises in the background. Colors are great, wonderful composition, and a beautiful shot!

    Well done,

    Jared

I like it, but I wonder if it's over-exposed or just my monitor?
I find this sort of photograph difficult to judge exposure when I try them, and always end up bracketing widely to compensate for my inability.

    Herriot,

I like the composition and the colours, however it seems a bit bright. I think ISO 100 or 50 would have been perfect here to ensure you got the least amount of noise. That would have reduced the brightness and kept the colours of the photo just enough as well.

Nice shot Herriot. It has a nice balance to it too. The building in the background add great depth. I also like the tower on the left. I agree that the foreground might be a tad too bright but then if the foreground wasn't as bright, the buildings in the distance wouldn't stand out as much. I personally like it as is.

I like it, but the building looks to like it's over exposed, to me. I will do some gama adjustment.

    Re: NIghtlight

    Hi there,

Thanks all for your comments, agreed that the buildings in the foreground are overexposed. The problem I had was that the boats on the water were moving very slowly (shipping tourists via small boats with chinese lanterns accounting for the red light) so I needed a long exposure if I was going to completely capture the movement from one side of the frame to the other. I am going to revisit the site and try a lower ISO but I think some faster boats would be the best solution!

Alternatively, I could just concentrate on capturing the static elements of the scene minus the movement on the water but that isn't what I am ultimately aiming for.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement!

Lower ISO and a neutral density filter?

    Re: NIghtlight

Thanks for the suggestion Paul, will certainly try a neutral density filter, was also wondering about something similar, will be posting again soon!

    Many thanks
