    Night Shot

I shot these last weekend and they're a little different for me so I'd like to get some feedback on them. Do they work? Not?

    Thanks,

    PC

Great pictures! I love the first one. The sky blends really well and looks amazing. I like the second one but I feel like it's a bit too bright.

#2 Bit bright. Other than that, two more wall hangers! Love them both!

    Re: Night Shot

Thanks for the nice comments. I worry that they're a little plain. I took both of these while backpacking with my son and all I had was the kit lens and a wimpy tripod. I even forgot my cable release. If I remember, both were shot at ISO 800, f/3.5, 30s. exposure. They came out a little noisy, but I used the noise reduction in the new PS camera RAW and it cleaned them up very nicely.

The bright area of the sky is where the sun had set 45 minutes or so before. I'll have to see if I can tone it down without losing the stars.

    Thanks again,

    PC

Good eye with the composition and giving both perspectives. Landscape jumps out and then the other one sais alot to me also.

The water reflection really makes these special. I would probably clone out (or at least reduce) the Venus reflection because I finding it distracting.

BINGO! I was trying to figure out what that white streak in the foreground was. Otherwise, beautiful shots - both! Nice work PC

Jimmy, Ken, & Jet - thank you for commenting. I had my concerns about the reflection as well. Thanks also for identifying that it's Venus giving off the light

Lovely, Where is the one with the tent? What was your settings and how did you do this with such little noise?

Very nice indeed. Maybe you could shop some more meteors into the first one for the sake of it.

Greg & thecounsel - thanks for commenting.

Greg, I'm assuming you are referring to the one I had posted on flickr; It wasn't working for me quite the way I wanted so I deleted it. You had asked about how I light the grass and it's pretty simple: I used an LED flashlight, but I also used the brim of a baseball hat to keep it off the actual ground and just light up the weeds - otherwise it got too bright.

On the noise side, this is done using the new noise reduction in Camera Raw. It works quite well, especially on shots like these.

    Thanks,

    PC,

I cannot see all of your photos here, but the one that I can, first from top down, is very nice. I would be happy to have shot that picture. Nicely done.
