If you can't catch 'em, shoot 'em

The forums have been my only photo type ventures for a while...just busy and lost my vision for photos for a while.
The salmon are running and there was a huge return of the pinks this year which makes the town smell wonderful I love to fish but am a lousy fisherman so I decided that if I can't catch them I might as well shoot them.
This one is obviously a set up but what do you think. I'm going to be doing more and hoping to get something memorable.

Looks Nice, the color seems a little off.
    Edit:
Where is the bonfire to roast it at?

Gee Frog, usually they just pass out candy apples around here, but I guess this is a bit more "heart healthy"

Seems like an interesting idea, but I think I'd be tempted to move WAY in on a subject like this and fill the frame a bit more.

For some reason this appeals it has a certain ' Lord of the flies ' feeling about it

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Re: If you can't catch 'em, shoot 'em

Thank you, all. It isn't quite the effect I was after but there are still plenty of dead salmon around to work with. Makes the town smell great..lol.
Icicle, the color is very close to what it is. Might have saturated the head a little too much.
I do have some others, jetrim. Not sure if they are as close as you are thinking but there's always cropping. I'll have a look in a bit.
How much do you think a model would charge to lay naked amongst a group of dead salmon? More than I have to spend, I bet.

I like the idea. Maybe some skeletal remains scattered about to give the ground some detail.

Like the others have said there is something missing for me, or the head needs to be bigger.

It really depends on the message your trying to get across.

If there are lots of others, why not gather up a whole handful of sticks, impale a head on each one and set them up like a school of fish heads swimming across the dirt lot; some high, some low, intermingled together as if swimming to that great spawning ground in the sky... Image title could be "fish sticks"

Frog, I think jetrim has given you a very good idea to go with on this subject, Jeff

Re: If you can't catch 'em, shoot 'em

Frog, I think an approach to try with this would be kneeling down low and shooting so that the fish head is against the sky. That would set it off a lot stronger and may have more impact on the viewer. right now, the head is almost lost in the sand. Getting closer can have more impact too.
