    night scape of winnipeg,manitoba.

a gorgeous moon out but when i got to the location it hid behind the clouds,it always knows when i chase it down, any idea's, so put the camera on 30 sec f13, full manual on the tripod, white balance on incandescent, and the iso at 200. you can see a few stars, tried for the rule of thirds, otherwise ,could there be improvements ?.

Good idea but I would like a strong blue color in the sky and including the moon would add a lot. Try shooting within a half hour of sunset or so for the dark rich blue sky and you have about 13 chances a year to get a nice full moon.
    No, I DON'T need that.

You should definitely check out some of gahspidy's older threads, he had a wonderful series of moon shot double exposures that could be a great source of info as well as inspiration. Here's a link to one: Moon Shot
He's done some really effective work with moon images.

Your colors are okay in this shot but I think this image's overall issue is focus. This may be because the camera selected a focal point much closer than the buildings, which is very possible with all of those small lights in the foreground, or the tripod moved during your exposure. A good effort but it needs more attention in the details.

Just keep shooting and eventually even the moon will cooperate.

Overall not bad, but I think I would have cropped a bit more of the sky out. As others have said the moon would be nice, but without it there just seems to be a lot of empty space at the top of the frame.

On a moderately OT note, are there any fans of the band the Weakerthans on this site? I can't look at this photo without thinking of one of their songs.
