    Night photos in London

Hi all - last night (the 9th) I went out on a chilly but clear evening to do some night photos. These are a few of the results. The camera was a Samsung V700 digital.

    Cheers

    Re: Night photos in London

Mike - It was worth the trip into the cold, for you got some freakin' great shots for your efforts (!)

I like the first and third ones the best. I would crop a lit bit off of the top of the first one. I dont know why but it seems to be close to split in half and that is always a little uneasy. The third one would have been even BETTER with more of a little trail at the bottom, but like #1 the cold, clear winter sky presents a classy, professional look to the shot.

The second is decent, but would have been better if the people were a little more blurry. The stairs are also a little bit of letdown compared to the rest of the shot. I dont think that cropping them out will solve this however... they do provide a base to the photo. I just wish there was a little more color there. Oh well.

Ooooh. Like London bridge up the stairs under the arch. Great colors and shapes. The slightly blurry people (hints at motion for me) are fine, would like to lose that flare/burst in the middle though.

Parliament and Big Ben are fine photographs, postcard like, just like the unusual shot of the bridge!!

    Glad to see these, thanks!

those are cool. I like the ghosting arond the people and the fact that they are all black. it gives a mood to it. I have to disagree with drg about the lens flare. I loove lens flares and the colours they can make. Depending on whats happening of course. good work

Terrific work Mike. I love the sky in that third shot. Composition and color are great on all 3.

That can't be London Bridge in the second shot...that's in Arizona now.

    Terrific photos Mike perfect exposure,

I love the one of Tower Bridge.

I notice in the third you have a double decker bus, white van, and car shame you didn't get the blues and twos which seem to always be around.

Very enjoyable. All have great perspectives and composition, rich colors, good shadow detail and the feel of night-time shots (often the exposures are too long and the results are not representative).

    Great work.

Mike, I am not that enthusiastic about your first picture. The technical execution is allright and the end result is decent but somehow, I am not really touched by it. I guess that it lacks the wow factor so to speak.

I think that your second picture is very ambitious and creative. I like the silhouettes as they are and I don't mind the flare. The one thing that makes me feel somewhat uneasy is the tilt of the bridge. It breaks the balance but I think that it could be corrected. The colors are really appealing.

The third shot is very well done, a definite keeper. The colors are striking and the exposure is great.
