    New York City

    Hello All,
Below are 3 images from my trip to New York City. My wife was great; she took me all over the city even though the weather was kind of bad and she is pregnant and all. Anyhow, any comments would be great.

dennylee, the bottom shot appears to have a decided tilt to the left. Other than that, I think they're ok.

    Denny -

Good city shots. I think you captured the feel of the old architecture. The first shot is the sharpest, but 'probably' could have used something else in the shot too, just to spice it up (probably something in the foreground). The second shot is my favorite, but it's somewhat soft - why? It could have been to shallow an aperature and that you focused closer in, making the infinity slightly out of focus (read up on hyperfocal distance stuff). But more than lightly you either had a wind blowing or there was some vibration from passing vehicles that softened it. Maybe it is good to have a heavier tripod in this situation. You can also grad and hold it down during the exp as a workaround. The bottom shot does have a tilt, but I like the tree in the way.. this adds to the shot IMHO (as I mentioned about shot #1, I think that foreground objects improve depth and interest).
