    New Shoes

Trying to practice improvisation in shooting with using what tools are at hand; keeping things simple with just one light. Tonight's subject was a new pair of cycling shoes. This was shot with a flash resting on a table camera right, with the shoes flagged off from direct light, angled up to a reflector at camera left which was angled just over the shoes. The backdrop/ground is a grey blanket from the living room.

    Would appreciate some C&C. Thanks!

    Re: New Shoes

It seems cropped a bit too tight, and I would like to see a little more of the sole of the shoe on it's side.

I like what your doing and it is good practice in creative lighting, and working with what ya got. I agree with Johns comments , although the tight crop does not bother me much. Need to see more detail on the sole of the sneaker on it's edge and less hotspot of it's side.

    Re: New Shoes

A really good attempt but I would like to see more detail in the sole and a reduction in the hot spot on the edge of the shoe lying down.

If this is a product shot then I would expect to see the whole shoe but as an artistic endeavour then the crop is fine by me.

    Re: New Shoes

Thanks Roger & Gary. It seems the overwhelming consensus is more sole! I think it definitely garners a reshoot tonight.
