Elana - NM is an diverse state, and I think you have some good elements here depicting that. For improvement, I think that the top shot might be better if it wasn't almost divided into two vertically equal parts. Its composition is good wrt the grass and road though. The middle shot again has nice composition: how you placed the people walking etc is very good. But I think I would have used a little less sky and more dune, since the sky wasn't great that day. I might also up the contrast when post-processing. The bottom shot is interesting, but I wish I could see more of her face and/or the painting (and easel).

Thks for posting. NM is always interesting.

I think you need to crop out about half of the grass an the first one and take the horizon out of the center of the shot. also fix the lean to the right. I think in #2 you need to crop out some of the sky since it don't really add to the picture. But they are all very good.

    Beautiful images Elena,

It's good to see you are back posting in the Critique Forum. I agree that a crop to lower the horizon line would be an easy improvement for #1. Your second image I liked immediately but think that cropping the bottom to just below the ridge of the first sand dune would give it a more tidy appearance. Perhaps you could even try a panoramic crop? #3 has good texture and color but the artist looks soft on the focus in relation to the background, I also wish I could see a bit more of her face.
Thanks for sharing, New Mexico certainly is beautiful!

I like the first picture as is. I know there is a rule about the horizon in the middle but in this case it needs to be broken. The second pic, the sky adds nothing to the photo. I like the colors in the third photo, a good composition.

    Re: New Mexico

    Elena,

I'm going to disagree with most of the comments you have had so far. This is going to be blunt so apologies before I start so you can skip if you want.

#1 The road either needs to be included completely or disregarded as it breaks the photo up as someone else said. The horizon needs to be re-aligned because for me it would be better if the field was level and the hills rolling down to the bottom left. I would crop so that the cross would be in the bottom right corner and up to the telegraph pole, excluding the pole, I would probably exclude the cross as well. The sky I would not touch.

#2 The foreground dune and grass need to be cropped out and the people put in the bottom right so a crop from the right by about 1/2" would work. I would keep the hazy sky because I like it if you crop. Helps make sense of the hills in the background and the foreground lighting.

#3 You either need to be looking at the painting in construction or the artist, you got it between the two. However I do like the colours in this photo. Also clone out the blue thing bottom right.

    Apologies for being so harsh.
