    New kid on the block

    Hello everyone.

Yes this is my first post here so apoligies if I'm doing something wrong.

I'm posting a few pictures to break the ice sort of speak, I'm hoping for a few comments good or bad I dont mind as long as I learn something new and improve myself from your critics.

I'm currently using the olympus E-510 kit lens, and previously I had the sony dsc-h2.

    Here goes:

I didn't want to post anymore because I remember reading something about not being allowed to post more than five pictures per day.

    Welcome aboard!
Actually you shouldn't post more than one photo for critique unless they are related or for comparison. Since yours are related, I think you're fine.
I think you have good color, lighting, depth of field, and focus in all of them.
I think the first is too close to the right and top edges of the frame.
I think the third leads too close to the right corner and that bright streak is rather distracting.
Again in the fourth, the main flower clump is too close to the upper right corner and the group in the lower left is cut off.
Seems to be the same for all of them as I think the last one is too close at the top again.
You may be able to do something with some creative cropping.
All in all these are very nice flower shots and I think if you get your composition a bit better, you'll have some real knock-outs.
    Keep Shooting!

    Looks very good !

I was thinking about posting some of my flower shots for critique, too. I'm gonna kill that thought.

When I scroll my screen up and down with your first two images it looked like the petals are moving! It's kinds of trippy.

I think Frog summed them up pretty good. Welcome to the Forum!

Just my opinion, but I like it when they are a little of center. I find it gives them more character and less of that stereotypical flower shot.

    Thank you.

Yes, I know what you mean, I believe it's called the rule of thirds or something similar, I was so concerned with focus and the rule of thirds that I didnt see how close I was to the edges.
