My feeling that it's a little on the dark side, and I would of rotated the camera 90 deg. before taking the photo, to get a little more of the subject without cuting of the top of the head.
    I do like the photo.

Nice mood lighting. Hard type of lighting to work with. Very easy to blow the hightlights with the strong one side light. Even though the overall image may be a little dark I think it still works. I do belive that it would work better in a vertical format. Don't be afraid to rotate that camera. Keep shooting and keep posting, it's a great way to improve your photographic skills.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I like the lighting and comp for the most part but I could do without her chin being cut off at the bottom.

Welcome. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hello and welcome to PR's photo critique board!

I think it's an interesting photo, but perhaps a little moody for such a young child. I've read where in movie lighting - which also applies to subjects such as art, photography and animation - that clear, even lighting is ideal for the "good guy" where they typcially use underneath lighting for the bad guys. The side lighting is probably somewhere between that, but you might want to even it out a little... use a reflector or another light source on the other side also if you can't move the main light source.

Thanks for posting and hope to see more of your work in the future.
