    Re: New bay Bridge

    Very good.
Nice use of curves, and the thirds.
I like the interrupted bridge leading to the construction on the other side.
The two dark refuge areas projecting off the deck line up nicely.
Looks like you put a lot of thought into this.

I can see only one thing I'd change.
Up at the top right there is a triangle of dark brown, I'd like to see the support pillar touch the edge of the frame.

Right centre between the two pillars there is a little sliver of sky/cloud. I wish it had a better contrast from the intensity of the sunlit side of the right pillar.
I tried expanding this 8x and I think in a big print, where you can see the blue colour, It will show up enough.

Maybe a brighter blue sky, still with clouds would be good.
Seems to go to a brownish tinge near the skyline too, is that pollution?

Oh., I just noticed the boat (I think that's what the white triangle is) in line with the other end of the bridge construction. This is so nice to just look around and find the little details.

Without going into all the detail that SmartW did, you did good. This is a real interesting image to view. I think a lot of issues that W raised would have been solved if you could have moved a foot or so to your right.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I think this is a terrific image. My only concern is, perhaps it could do with a little less water? I think the foundation could be pulled a little closer to the bottom edge.

    Great job!

I agree with seifen, nice job on the bridge (the curvature looks great) but could probably use less water. Too bad there wasn't a canoe there in the foreground too. But this is still a strong architectural shot.

    Irina,

I think the others have already covered the major areas, but as one who also lives in the bay area, how did you get this shot? I'm guessing you were on a boat, but I like the vantage point.

    Re: New bay Bridge

ira, this picture has a serious composition flaw. due to incline of a bridge pillar not being contradicted by any other diagonal, the image is off balance. this effect is compounded by tonal distribution: lower left quadrant of the image is light, while upper right is dark. there is nothing wrong with unbalanced composition pr se, but it needs to resonate emotional and/or semantic content of the image, which is not the case here.

Thank you for that complete comment. About the brownish tinge near the skyline.... I think this problem appeared after compression. I don't see it on the original image.

Yes... Tis was taken from a boat.

Absolutely agree with you about the composition. But... Should I make only right photos?

    Re: New bay Bridge

Irina, I like the second post better than the original because of the opening up some more of the left side and the reduction of the water in the fg as others have brought up issue with. I was somewhat in agreeance (?) with Irakly about the unbalance of composition due to a heavy side with the support, but I feel the new crop removes alot of that unbalance and tips the scale favorably, for me. I am curious as to how the photo would be if you were to the left a bit and could catch some open air/sky to the right of the main support, but overall I'm very pleased with your result of the last post.
    Nicely thought about and captured.
