    Welcome to the forum.

Great subject and nice exposure. I would of liked to seen a little more light in the eyes, and not have the hands chopped off. moving the open space to the right versus the left so she has something to lean into could also be a consideration. Your off to a great start keep those submissions/post coming.

    So what did momma think?

Thanks! I cant figure out the eyes with this camera. Her eyes are bright blue but I cant seem to pic it up right. I could get good ones with my point and shoot. Will have to keep playing around! Had no choice on the open space....had to crop out a fence in the background but I see what your sayin on that!

Since I am the momma, I have to say I love it! LOL Gotta love a mud bath in nice warm weather!

Thanks again! I really want to pursue child/infant photography but I know there is alot to learn still!

I think this would have worked if you'd gone vertical making it easier to get all of her in.
Is she always such a rag-a-muffin. Gotta love her.
To get the eyes better, I use spot metering and focus and make them my point of focus and metering. Seems to work but not so easy with moving subjects.
If you're using photoshop or other editing you might be able to highlight the eyes and bring more out in them.
Keep shooting.....not really bad at all.
    Keep Shooting!

I'll leave the critique to the experts, but would just like to say what a great shot. I like the exposure and the color. Very nice.

i agree with frog going vertical and not chopping anything off the girl would of made this shot perfect, nice colors, and the whole image brings the viewer to her eyes, thats why the detail to her eyes are more important, great job, next one will be better.

Re: New to all of this!

Welcome to the forum. I like your choice of framing, horizontally and setting the subject off to one side. I always like to see some of the surroundings around the subject. My only problem with this is her hands being cut off. Other than that it is a good one. The issue with the childs eyes not coming off blue as they are is not a camera issue but really just the way the light is hitting her here. The lighting is falling on the side of her face and just missing the eyes which is why they are dark and lacking any color. A reflector held on the other side to bouce some light (fill) towards her front and eyes wuld have opened this up alot.
Great start with the new camera!
