    Re: Neighborhood views

Don, I like how you capture the mundane parts of your city.....shows what it really looks like compared to a travel brochure.
That being said, I think the color is off in the third one.

Thanks Frog. Tat shot was through a dirty bus window. I saturated the colors.

I've seen your slide show. I think what you've been showing work better as a series, like documentary photography, tells a story. One single photo may not have much to look at but together, they tell more. That's my personal opinion.

I think I agree. Mostly I do a kind of travelogue about places people don't care much about. There are exceptions, but that's usually true.

    Re: Neighborhood views

I always look at the photos you post. Your point of view is always interesting, even when it is disturbing or provocative it still makes one think. I like the idea in the first shot, but think the background is too sharp and the color too sharply demarcated near the trees. The effect on the cars works great. I like what you were going for, but think that the trees in the background are a problem. Its that one tree that has a "v" and blue sky overhead. The metal fence shot I like, but as has been said, this shot belongs in a series. I think a series of photographs (exposure wise) of this type can be used to make a more powerful statement than a single shot alone. I really like the third shot. I love that idea of everyday life hiding extraordinary things that your use of color brings out. That saturation of color is wonderful and a little unsettling at the same time.

    Re: Neighborhood views

The first 2 are the ones that work for me-the third image is just too blurred and actually hurts my eyes to look at.

Your first image might be just a tad too light or contrasty as I think the snow should have more detail. The second image has even more contrast so you have lost detail in the blacks and whites about equally so it works for me. I am not sure if the tilt is off or not in the second image-it feels that way but that "tilt" contributes to the overall uneasy feel of the image.
    No, I DON'T need that.
