    Neglect

An old barn across the street from a "business park"

PP includes some color tweaks including curves and contrast

Copied original to top layer, blurred top layer, made top layer sepia, then set opacity on top layer to 50% (Orton effect and then some) (I did gain inspiration from the orton effect thread)

As usual, full size version can be found by clicking the picture.

    here's the original

    EDIT: Fixed link

How beautiful! This scene really lended itself well to the orton effect. I like how the sky is such a light bluish/white..it adds to the magical feeling. I really like this.

Very nice execution of the effect, and the subject is pretty good too... but the blown out sky at the top right takes it all away...

    Re: Neglect

I might give this a shot at sunrise with the sun on the face of the barn, should make exposing for the sky as well as barn a bit easier. But you see, I'm not much of a morning person, and there's NO GOOD ESPRESSO in this county.

    Oh the sacrifices I *consider*

I may also try this on a partly cloudy day and shoot in HDR...save the morning shots for morning people.

    Re: Neglect

I find myself staring at the dark facing wall, trying to make out detail instead of looking at the whole picture.
Don't know what time it was taken but if there is a time when light is more even it would be worth the reshoot.

    thanks for sharing.

It was taken at about 3pm on a hazy day

IMO the worst time and weather combo for outdoor photography.

    Re: Neglect

I really like the idea of the picture. Though I have to say the blown out sky in the right really bothers me too. I think going back and shooting it on a better day with better light would make this a really great picture.
