Need Your Feedback Please!!!

Hello, I am new to Photography Review and wanted to post a picture of my nephew at his last football game. I own a Nikon D50 and have had it since August 1st. I have had a point and shoot before that, but have really started taking my photography serious (or what I would consider serious) since August 2006. Please provide feedback on the attached picture and let me know where I could improve. I appreciate your time & look forward to hearing your comments. Kevin

I think it's great. You did a good job. You might try posting in the sports section too. There seems to be a lens flare above his left shoulder but you can take it out in Photoshop...

kalvis - Looks like you did exactly the right thing in blurring the background. The shutter speed is good too, no blurring, and the focus is dead on. Too bad his eyes werent a little more visible, since thats normally the first place where people look when looking at a person shot. Nothing more to suggest, it's good.

Nothing more to add, apart from pushing the Sports forum
His helmet is just at the wrong angle so the face guard obscures his eyes.
It happens, you just have to take more pictures.

It's like a group photo with no one blinking, you're unlikely to see it in the viewfinder so you have to take a few to randomly get what you want.
Unless your eyesight is good enough to see it and your timing perfect to shoot only when the his eyes are visible ...
