Hard to say, Roger. I think you need another boat in there somewhere, yet the lines get in the way....however those lines have some geometrical shapes which work in this particular case. Bottom line??---I have no idea
MB - This is very early in the morning on a misty day with the tide ebbing - hence the lean to the left  (Missed that will correct if I decide to print it). I see what you mean by the darkness and I could lighten it but worried that the atmosphere would just drain away. I'll think about playing some more with it after the weekend. Going sailing soon.
John - I waited a long time to see another boat and waited for him to get into position. It was the rigging that I've always wanted to include and never successfully managed it. Still not sure this is a success. I could only take this because it was flat calm and nothing around - normally to busy trimming sails and setting course changes. George the autopilot was helming at the time, nice chap but a teetotaller.
Ben - thanks for the critique, so if you think its cool, Hmmm! that's started me thinking about another one I took later in the morning with a bit less mist.

Roger, I like the view from the boat with the rails and ropes framing the scene. The tilted horizon is even ok with me because it lends to the feel of being in a boat and tilting a bit with the roll of the waters. I feel that there needs to be something strong in terms of a subject out there on the water at which we are looking and has been framed up so appropriately with the rigging of your boat. Another vessel, or even a flock of seagulls flying over. I do see there is another boat out in the distance, but it is far too far away and small in the scene to be of any value here.
That's the problem no middle ground - that is also a problem because my wife won't let me take photos if something got that close to make it useful .
Back on the boat this weekend so we'll see what comes along.

Sorry Roger but I too feel it needs a something to make it a bit more interesting. Because of the lack of a focal point my eyes were hit by that big black border which I think is too overpowering.
