    Nearing sunset

and the desert is starting to change color. Not sure about the lack of a strong subject here -comments?

I see the image you were trying to capture but I feel like there is just something about it that is kind of lacking. Maybe if it was framed with more sky if there were more clouds or maybe expose the foreground a little more. I can see that the sand in the foreground has a nice color to it from the sunset so maybe tweak it a little in photoshop and try and bring that out more.

I find these types of images difficult as well. One thing that mine often lack is a strong foreground element. I think this one suffers similarly. Perhaps the use of a neutral density graduated filter would help tone down the sky to allow for a brighter foreground. There are good objects there, but I just can't see them well enough. Overall, though, the composition is nice with tree distinct areas (foreground flora, mountains, sky) filling the frame.

BMW, thanks for the look. There's definitely something missing, probably just the lack of a subject area for the eyes to rest on. I sort of feel that the cloud is taking over, but its a little strange having a sky subject with that much foreground. Maybe I'll clip off some of the foreground.

Greg, the GND filter is an excellant suggestion. I have one too, but I don't use it as often as I should. I guess I've yet to learn how to look at a scene and immediately know when and when not to use it (it is a bit cumbersome also, perhaps making me lazy about using it). I will make a concerted effort to use it next time out there.

I agree with some other statements about the foreground not having enough exposure, and using a density filter or possibly bringing something back in Photoshop would help. It looks like an image with good potential, but needs that foreground to hold it down.
