NASA 831--The Tail O' The Beast

The one of the twin tails of the SR-71B Blackbird at the Air Zoo where I work. I don't know if there should be more OR less definition of the stabilizer, but I liked the way the light from the overhead was highlighting this.

Looks like something floating in space. Don't know if that's good or bad.

I think you framed it well. I like the deep black against the white. This isn't top secret stuff is it?

Great eye.Nice catch.Excellent contrast, color.I'm a big fan of NASA.
Top Secret? No The whole program is no longer shrouded in mystery.Commonly called "The Blackbird" Other designations include.
    A-12 Oxcart (CIA) spy project / M-21/YF12 /SR-71.

Most of the flight time was spent very near "space" This floating effect is excellent. Great to point that out Frog!

Rick -_- I'll share a couple of facts...Just the facts.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    9 Oct 99

    The last Blackbird flight,by SR71A / NASA 844, reaches Mach 3.21 and 80,100 feet.

A total of 389 people experienced the thrill of flying over Mach 3 in the Blackbird:284 were assigned crewmembers, and 105 were "VIP" guests.

starri.....thanks for the comments. You know your stuff. People coming in to the Air Zoo are astonished when we tell them some of the facts, figures, and stories. Ours is the trainer version, and is the only one left. The other one crashed, and when 831 was offered to us, the Executive Director leaped upon the opportunity. You should see the faces of the kids when they see it.
