    The Narrows

Got out for a bit in my new neighborhood today and took some shots of the Verrazano Bridge...let me know whether you like the B&W or color better...

    thanks!

IMO the bottom has to go,that clutter of rubbish on the beach does nothing for this shot. Rotate the shot ccw (straighten horizon)crop it below the bottom of the wall the sky is burned out and need some photoshop work with i think if you did this it would be well balanced shot .

I agree with Skinny. A little closer using the small jetty in the foreground and eliminating the trash would help. Also a different time of day when the sky isn't so harsh. Very early or late with a golden sky. Certainly worth a return.

For me I like the B&W pic best with perhaps the garbage cropped out. Often times, for me at least B&W lends it self to more dramatic effect. I think we get seduced into thinking colors are always the best reflection of what is snapped.

I like the color version, but I typically don't like B&W anyway.

I like the garbage - in fact, I'd like to see the garbage as the main focus of the photo, maybe by making the shore closer to 2/3 of the frame. Maybe take two steps back.

    The colour, definitely.
As a statement about the people on the bridge passing by the pollution that's being washed up below - it's great as it is.
But it's not a photograph of just the bridge - if you want a bridge photo is needs cropping.

    Re: The Narrows

I agree with Smart Wombat. I hate to say this, but I think it would bring more focus to the garbage if you cropped the top third or so of this photo. I love the bridge, but I think it detracts from the garbage if you leave it whole.
Please ask before editing my photos and I will gladly do the same.
