    Nahida

My friend was kind of to model for this impromptu studio session...

    C&C please... thanks!

Hi Marcus, I like your portrait, but the lighting on the models face seems a little harsh.
Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

Not bad, Marcus. I think though that your main light coming from the upper right side should have been on the upper left side. The veil is covering that side of her face so mostly we have here a lighted veil with it's shadow falling on her face. Also, there seems to be another hard light, perhaps the rim light or fill if you had that is hitting her right shoulder and causing a unwanted hard light on a small area in the bg.
It's not bad all in all. I just think your main light should have been on the other side and very little fill in front for a more dynamic ratio of main and fill.

Thank you both for the comments... I have other shots that to care for what you have said... but I liked her expression here, and was trying to see if this would work. Think some PP would fix what you said? I'll have to try i guess!

Yeah, the light on the right shoulder I did not notice... that was the light behind her, which I forgot to turn off here...

Besides being impromptu, it was rushed... might get another chance with her...

    Thanks again for the comments!

#1-She has a very pretty face. This is actualy a big deal in getting a portrait right; as far as the viewer knows this could be the ugliest person on the face of the planet but the way you present her here makes her look good.

#2-I'd say the composition is a little off as her nose is very close to the center of the frame. Going for a less balanced look usually adds interest to the shot.

3#-The image looks a little soft to me. I'd like to see that beautiful fabric as well as her hair and eyes sharp as can be.
    No, I DON'T need that.

MB, thanks for the great input... She used to model and has indeed a beautiful face... if I do manage to get her in for another shoot, I will be sure to keep these tips in mind!
    Thanks.
