It was a Nags Head Weekend

CL, here a couple of shots taken with the fish, then corrected with PTLens.

And a couple more. The crop is pretty significant, but you can still work with it.

Oooh...D, I love the third one down on your original post! That's an awesome shot, imo...great color, cool patterns.

I also really like the first one there, but I would crop out the bit of house you can see on the left...just a preference thing for me though!

    Cool shots!

Bodie Island light and Cape Hatteras National Seashore!!! One of my favorite places! You LUCKY!
Actually I was in N.C. this weekend too; in Greenville covering a band, GUTA, which is from Elizabeth City, which is like 15 miles away from Nags Head, which is where Kevin Bacon fished once. (I made up that last one. )
Love your pics and the brooding sky. The oil slick dunes are very cool with the distortion emphasizing the patterns (might also be neat as a B/W!) and I like the stretch of the fish on the vertically framed images of the light. I KNOW this lighthouse. I'll see if I can dig out one of mine for giggles if I find one I'll post it.

D-----great work. Looks like you had a pretty bad day for it though. I'd love to see these again on a sunny day under a blue sky.

I did pick something up though.......looks like sensor dust or something on the lens??? You've got some spots in there on a couple of the lighthouse shots.

Something looks a little fisheye here!
Nice shots and good job of straitning them out. I'm with Emily though, the third pic first post I like the best.
    Good work,
    Mark.

    D,

I love the dune but not the corrected version, the original which I think is fabulous, and thats coming from someone who doesn't normally like fish eye pictures.

To me it looks like a huge grotesque whale/monster coming out of the picture at me.

The lighthouse does nothing for me though.

Re: It was a Nags Head Weekend

Thank you all. John, correct on both points: It was dismal weather (really hard to capture anything out of the sky, that's for sure) and I do have dust. I think it's on my mirror and I'm chicken about going in there. I really should send it to the hospital. It's not been in for a check up since it met the marble floor in Italy and I know it's got at least a couple of cracked ribs, but I just can't imagine being without out for very long (though it would force me back to the F5, and make me work at film again!). But while it's there I'm sure they'd clean up that dust for me. I'm quite tired of cloning it out.

Emily, the house was captured a bit intentionally. I wanted to show the extreme curve. I knew that when straightened it would be cropped and I wanted to make sure that what got cropped was what I did not desire rather than trying to capture all good things then having to crop out some of the good. Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with those dunes. It was my favorite part and my least favorite part. Sort of like that turkey and his gasoline photos, ya know? We rarely drive on the beach but did this weekend. I'm wracked with guilt over it. I'm such a goober.

Looks like somebody was havinf too much fun. ;) Really nice pics, D. Guess i will have to go with most everyone else and make the 3rd one of the first post my favorite. Actually, I like both versions of it, but there is just something about one of those fisheye pics.

It makes the dune look more dune-ish in shape IMO.
