My first Thread

Hi every body. I'm bran new to the site and I wanted to upload some of my pictures so i could get some different perspectives on them. I shot these there at lake dillon in Dillon Colorado. I used my Canon 1D MK2 and my 28-200 2.8 ef lens. I had the ISO at 100 on AV with the apperature all the way closed down. i'll be posting more pictures soon.

These are from a MT bike race i shot for our paper. I used a Canon Rebel XT with a 17-55 EF-s and a 70-300 EF
(the first two are so big that i thought it would be easier for me just to post a link)

This next bunch I took last summer when I climbed one of our 13,000 ft peaks here in Summit County. I used a Pentax ZX-7 35mm slr with fuji B/W film and a 18-55 mm lense

Welcome to the site ZL. I rarely do photos in b/w so it is hard for me to comment on what could be done to improve these shots. For example, they all appear to be too dark but then I see detail in the snow. Regardless, I do know one thing, they all have a horizon tilt; two quite seriously. I suffer from this myself and am working on it quite consciously. The mountains appear to be volcanic, are they?

I really like #1, but I think it would work better if the horizon was level. Nice composition other than that. I would like to see a color version with more detail

ok, i see what you're talking about with teh horizon tilt. It's a strange lake to shoot on because the shore line is very wavy, it messes my eye up when i'm looking through the view finder. What do you think about the other groups? and CF, there are roomers that the Mt on the left is an old volcano, but i think they are just roomers. We're not in a volcanic area.

Digital does not handle black and white very well, so colour is generally much better, particularly for scenices.

I shot these in color, but it wasn't a very colorfull day, no great light, so i changed them to B/W and i'm much happier with them.
