The composition and scene rock. You may want to bring the contrast up just a little bit to deepen the colors. (just a little, it's real close as is)

i think it really draws on the smallness of humans. love the contrast between the sizes of the shot and the person photographed. to me it's great capture. I just think that it might have been a bit stronger if the person were standing up. but i still like it as is.

petershin.....I think the sunset shot has been covered. As for the bowling, you might want to straighten that up a bit. It could also stand a levels adjustment to bring out some of the colors. And for future reference, you might want to post different pictures separately as not to confuse those viewing.

Awesome sunset shot! Very nicely composed. I agree with Yuck that just a hair bit of levels adjustment on the color would knock this out of the park. Well done!

The bowling shot seems to be missing something though. Maybe having a person in one of the lanes would bring it together. With it as it is, it has some tilt to be corrected. Also, the upper ceiling part could be cropped out. This could be a good panorama candidate if you were to crop up to where the lanes begin and down to the edge of the white ceiling.

Keep up the good work and I hope to see some more shots posted in the future

Great Sunset shot. You could try making the suggested adjustments or frame it as is.

Re: My first post on photo critique....

Interesting main shot. I like the colors and expanse of the ocean and sky. The fellow in the shot is a great addition. My only suggestion would possibly be to make him bigger in the shot, but then the ocean might not seem as big. Great work.

The bowling shot is fun, but it obviously must be straightened. I like the darks and lights, but I think that what's missing are people in the shot. As you did on the ocean photo, adding a person would inject some expression....

A very good first post. I agree with much of the comments on the sunset shot, but I also feel it could be cropped down a bit so the man's silhouette is a bit more impactful.
The bowling alley scene has some potential but it could be better straightened out and I would crop off the entire top part of the scene.

thanx for all the opinions guys....
earlier today i cropped out the bowling alley shot, straighten it up a bit and cut the top part off making the pic a lot longer.... ill post the revision when i get the chance.....
A little offtopic here, but what do you guys usually use to take a pic during the day (Outdoors) you guys use manual, auto or aperture priority?

Re: My first post on photo critique....

I shoot aperture priority about 90% of the time, irregardless of time of day. The Nikon matrix metering seems to work fairly well. The only time I shoot manual is when I'm using studio light or when I know the meter will be fooled (snow, etc).
