    My first Photoshop/hack

    Remember this was my first edit on PS.

    You've made a good start. I'll bet that cabin was lost in the weeds in the original. I usually like to see the saturation reduced a bit on this kind of shot so that the colored subject sits within its surroundings better.
    How did you do the conversion to B&W? It might be improved with a bit more contrast within the BW areas. I like using the channel mixer method discussed in this tutorial.

    I used layers to remove the cabin turned the other photo to grayscale then added the cabin back. I am sure there are better ways but like i said just started messing with PS. Thanks Chunk for the comments!

    I'd reduce the saturation in the red just a bit as well. Also, if you play with the curves, you may get a better black and white.

    I'd imagine I'd like this in color as well. Not a bright color, but faded, kinda a vintage look.
