Very cool, Will. What equipment and lighting did you use for these?

    Thanks a lot. I used a Nikon D300 with a 17-55 F2.8
To illuminate I used a SB-900 bouncing to a White BG but the White Balance was setup to florescent light. That gave me the blue color that I was looking for.

For the red I used a Red card board with a purple gel and the WB setup to cloudy in order warm up the photo a little bit.

Great stuff! But I think this subject, with its reflections, merits some tenting, to get that pure white catchlight.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Yes it required a little bit of patience.

Anbesol what do you mean with tenting? sorry English is now becoming my first language and I'm still learning.

Im sorry, I should have elaborated anyway. Tenting is where you surround the subject with white, be it a white cloth or a hard white plastic, that way the reflection in the water, and the color of the reflection, as well as your specular highlights will have an even catchlight across the image. As it is, the catchlight already looks excellent, but I think it could be better.

I like the second purple one. Have you thought about rotating it 180?

Thanks for the explanation well appreciated. I would try that on my next attempt and see how it goes.

Greg I never thought about that but if you want to experiment with the photo go ahead. It will be interesting see another perspectives.

These are all very good, Wilsan. I like the colors you are bringing out with the various settings and colored boards/gels. I agree with anbesol in that refining and controlling the highlights a bit more would be the only thing i could see to improve. this could be done by the tent as anbesol described or by experimenting with placing the boards in different locations and angles. Also making sure the light from your flash is not directly hitting the water in any way and completly coming from the bounce boards. Using much larger boards for a larger and softer light sours migh also be a thought.
    Excellent work.

Thanks Gary, well my art and craft are not so great but, I will try with two strobes and big umbrellas and see the result. I was thinking, illuminate the water bowl from the bottom up.
    Well the next set
