    Re: Macro: BIG fly

    Elena,

Great shot and a nice macro. I would have preferred to see the fly head on, but given the type of animal, etc. that would be awfully hard and take alot of luck. I love the shot, though the yellow pollen (?) in the background is a tad distracting.

All in all, a great macro,

    Jared

Whoa........that baby jumps right out at ya.
Considering flies don't hold still for anyone, I'm surprised you got the macro in that close. Good one Elena

Better? Hard to do, this is a good one.

I'd say the lighting coudl be improved, with a little fill-in light under the fly on the flower head.
It looks like there was only one diffuse light overhead, leaving the flower in shadow under the fly.
You want some shadow, but I think a little more soft reflected light getting in there might help.

Geat Macro here but the way i C it you have 2 macros here one of a fly and one of a Flower . Its probably just a matter of taste but the flower is competing with a superb Fly macro. I would have prefered less flower maybe a thighter crop or blur out a bit more of the flower. Other than that it is a true macro , superb color and detail keep up the good work

    Just my 2 cents
