    Re: from my DC collection

I think the right side of the picture should be cropped to remove the white wall. Perhaps make it a vertical photo rather than horizontal. If it could be taken again, perhaps from slightly lower than the boy and angled upward, and catch his feet in it also. Maybe increase the impact of the small boy/large wall to read.
I'm a beginner photographer experimenting with lighting, and different editing techniques in photoshop cs3, and paint shop pro.

I'd like critiques from both sides of the camera. A photographer's point of view, and what you would like to see if the picture was of you (or your child) and you'd paid to have these taken. My ultimate goal is to improve my technique and style, and be the best that I can be.

    Your help is appreciated!

    Re: from my DC collection

I have a hard time critiquing photos like this because despite the technically photographic problems it still retains its inspirational message.
The little black boy reading Lincoln's words works.
Would it be more inspirational if his feet showed, and the right side wasn't too bright, or if it was in a vertical format, or the eagle on the left were not chopped off. I don't know.

    thanks for the input...
this was a spin and shoot shot..
i was walking through the lincoln memorial and i glanced over and this is what i saw. I pulled up the camera and snapped 3 frames and then the kid took off...i do not know who he is...i just saw it and it moved me so i shot it.

I agree that despite the technical issues that it still makes an impact. Without the kid it would be lifeless. Good eye and timing under the circumstances.
