    Mute Swan

Hey I'm new on this forum and really like what is happening here! Hope some of you can give me some good advice on my work. This is a shot of a male mute swan, shot with a D100 at 200mm with a shutter speed of 1250 and F9. Some color boost in Nikon Capture program, but other than that, mostly as is. Thanks for input!

This is a great, shot, I praise your skills on this one. I think that is one you'd want to print out. The north american Mute swan is quite a remarkable bird. This shot looks like it was done with a 600mm f/4, I can't believe it was only a 200mm.

Thanks for your contributions, keep posting!!!!!

    Thanks

Appreciate your comments, and yes it was shot with a cheapee 28-200 Nikkor lens. . . I didn't have my new 70-200 VR at that time, but was surprised how well this one turned out. btw this "cob" was very angry, cuz he was defending a nesting female. . .

    Hello Whiskeyjack,

The colors and level of details arguably is remarkable. It looks like it was achieved with a specialized lense as Sean pointed out.

    I like your picture.

    Hi,
Welcome to this forum. I have one suggestion: includes the whole reflection of the swan .
    All the best.

    thanks

Yoyo, thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that at all, but sure makes a lot of sense. . . maybe would make the shot a little more regal and less chopped off. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

    WhiskeyJack,
Welcome. This is a nice image . Yoyo has a good suggestion about including thewhole reflection of the bird in the frame. I had posted a couple of shots of these great Mute Swans that have taken to a Salt Marsh here near my home. They are fun to watch, but can be aggressive from what i have heard. Good color in this image. Looking forward to seeing more
