    Muscle Beach

Another image from the tide pool walk. This time, the rock is in the foreground...
Thanks in advance for you suggestions,

Great shot and I love the title. I think with the resize, you lose alot of the texture and feel of the mussels here, but I think in a high res shot this would be great! Great color, and a nice eye for composition. Having the people in there is a great touch for perspective too!

    Well done,

    Jared

Love it. Is that some kind of plant in the lower left corner? The title mkes it even better. The feeling af people wandering around and seeming amazed/lost adds a great touch.

    Thanks for the comments...

Jared, yes the full version has more detail. But, I was more after the transition of textures.

Pyne817, the plants are some sort of sea weed (I'm not sure which). At high tide, this whole area is underwater

    Tim,
I think this is a great comp. The people add a lot of interest. Nice and sharp front to back.
But on my moniter it looks too bright and somewhat flat. In levels I moved the middle slider and darkened the image. It increased the colors (blue, red fg. green bg ) and gave the pic more snap.
Then I selected the water and moved the left slider and gave it some more contrast.
I like it, those are my thoughts,
    Mark.

I agree finally someone figured it out for me - the only problem with the photo is lack of punch. Tried Mark's solution and its spot on. This however could be the differences in monitor settings. My gama setting is set to 2.1 I think which gives pictures I take a nice bright look so I set them all up for this.

Other than that the photo is spot on

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for the review. I use Paint Shop Pro. When you talk about "Levels", are you talking about changing the gamma on the histogram? Also, what did you mean about "selected the water"?

    Thanks Mark,
    Tim

    Hey readingr,

I posted a few more windsurfing shots down below. No need to critique them. But, I just wanted to let you know in case you didn't see them.

    Tim,
    Q. 1. A, Yes, histogram w/ 3 sliders. Q2, Maybe its not water. The nearly white stuff to the right and a bit of it behind the people. Is it sand? anyway, just darkend it a bit to get a little more shadow detail.
Could be the moniter. Mine is set to 1.8
If I misunderstood the 2nd question, let me know,

Yea, that is sand. When you say selected, are you using PS magic wand or something?

    Re: Muscle Beach

Yes, magic wand. If it doesent select every thing I want at first, I right click outside of selection another part I want and choose add to selection in dialogue box. Usually have to do this many times. This oft leaves very small areas not selected w/in the selected area, I feather the borders 5-10 pixels and that usually takes care of that.
sorry Tim, Inn a hurry gota go to wrk to pay for my toys
