    Mt Rainier & Corvette shot

My favorite shot from last summer with Mt Rainier & my Corvette.
Taken in Tacoma, WA off Puget Sound Bay Drive.

Hey! What kind of a critique is that? I know you're a gearhead, but stay focused here

    Awesome!

I don't know what to say about this photo. I think it's pretty damn near perfect. The composition is excellent. I especially like how you used the tree at the top. That's a nice touch.

Here are a few things that I noticed:

    1) Looks a bit tilted. I'm looking at the buildings in the background for reference.
    2) Looks oversharpened. It has a harsh look overall and there's telltale haloing around the leaves of the tree.
    3) It's a bit hot on the side of the car. A slightly darker exposure and some selective adjustment would have avoided that.
    4) Looks a bit cool - I'd add a bit of red and yellow - just a bit.

What camera did you take this with? Ranier looks like a painting filter was run on it. I don't think you did it, though. It looks like soft focus from a compact digital camera. In the past couple of years I've noticed that out-of-focus areas in compact camera files have this look. I think it's a JPEG compression or noise-masking strategy camera designers are using.

Bottom line - great photo. I love it. Great location, too. I don't know if I've ever been out there. But I have a cousin who lives on Gig Island (I think that's what it's called). Maybe I need to visit. Need to get a hot car first, though

Cool Re: Mt Rainier & Corvette shot

    hehehehe.
I think this is an outstanding capture.
The mountain is very peaceful looking on this day.I have friends in this area. I love Tacoma, many photo op's exist.
I think maybe a polarizer filter would have made the car pop more ? Just for fun.
Now I'm thinkin' this might be a 79 vintage Chevrolet. ha!

P.S. John; thanks for steering me back to the driver seat

    Thanks for the nice compliments!
I took it with a Sony Cybershot H1.
The sun was about to set on the hill to the right and I didn't have much time for settings. I walked down the road about a block, sat on the ground and zoomed in to bring in the mountain.

Now if I had a professional slr camera...

Holy Smokes what a great photo. I can't get past the car, I want a Corvette so bad I'm not sleeping well at night. I have an eye on a 1990, which isn't the classic of this beauty. I love the color against the blue sky, the white mountain. I really like the buildings in the background which rise up with the mountain. I agree that the photo is a bit hot on the side of the car but beyond that, really nice car, er, photo.

I forgot to add that I did use a polorizer to bring out the sky against Mt. Rainier.

Great.. now hand me the car keys and I'll say it's perfect....

I actually loved both pics. I really like how the mountain sort of gradually appears in the first one!

I really like what you have done here. Not exactly centered but easily fixed in PS. I'm with rzazaya1969. I promise I won't wreck it, I just want to take my wife out on a date in it. LOL

    Very nice.
I think I've seen you on the freeway but you were such a blur I couldn't be sure.
I hope you have the parking brake set on the Seattle shot.
