    Mounted police

Yes, we actually have some in Copenhagen but they are few and far between! I came across these two on my way home from coffee with friends in the town centre. Looks like they are guarding what is the Danish equivalent of Harrods Dept Store in London. Very posh and very expensive!

Anyway, I've converted it to B&W and lightened it a little in the dark areas. I have cropped off a bit at the bottom but should I also take some off the right side? I just like the shop windows...What can you guys suggest? Feel free to edit the photo and post suggestions. Of course any other suggestions, other than cropping, are most welcome!

    Re: Mounted police

I may be way off base here, but "thinking outside the box" I'd like to see the left side cropped to remove the shop windows there. The effect then becomes very confrontational, like the mounted police are stopping your eye from proceeding down the sidewalk to the windows on the right. (plus it gets everybody out of the dead center)

Thanks, Jetrim! I actually thought about cropping the left by intuition but thought "Oh, the horses are facing that way, therefore I should leave space in front of them", but I guess the girls rule out that argument a bit. Very interesting thought with the confrontational effect, I hadn't thought of that at all!

I like the crop but think you could lose just a touch of the bottom as well. I like the B&W. A very good street capture.

    Re: Mounted police

Thanks, guys! Usually the only times that I see the mounted police out are when they are assisting the riot police - when I prefer to be nowhere in the vicinity! Well, I'm sure that would make for some great photographs but I do have 3 young children, so I stay away...

I've taken a little off the bottom in this one, just enough for the cobblestones to end in the corner.

    Great work, Mette!

Sharpness looks pretty good, and there aren't any extraneous/distracting elements anywhere. Nice B&W conversion too.

To improve further I think you could lose some more off the right, to kind of ''balance" the overall composition. Other than this I can't see any other way to edit. Good job.

Maybe crop off the last window on the right?

    Re: Mounted police

The latest version, I also took a teeny bit off at the top to make the top right corner look a bit better...

It does look a little like the picture loses a bit of depth?

    Re: Mounted police

    That's definitely improved !

It does seem like it lost a bit of depth, but I think the more balanced composition is better.

Looks good in black and white but do you have a color version?? I think color would look nice too.
