    Re: Mount Auburn Cemetery

Nice - I used to live right across the street from that cemetery

Overall, I like the image. I think the black-and-white works well and I love the sky. But I don't think the road is so great. It might have been nice to have a bit of road. But it takes up too much of the composition and sort of overwhelms what I think is the real content - or should be - the gravestones and sky. You might try cropping out most of the road and see what you think. I just scrolled a bit and it looks like a square crop actually works ok for this image.

Thanks for sharing. I hope you find my criticism useful

    Re: Mount Auburn Cemetery

IMO yes it should have a tighter bottom crop...probably from the end on the "sidewalk" on the left side all the way down.
I do like a lot B&W, in this particular case I think something is missing, or I feel it that way, even though there is a good black and white contrast the image it feels "flat" donīt know ....the tonal arrangement or the lack of an obvious focal point.
The graves on the first plane right side have a harsh highlight issue, well know that I see it most of the highlights at some point are like this, maybe tunning them down might aid to avoid this "flatness"
On the other hand, I think the overall composition is good and the trees and clouds are great, these two occupy 2/3 of the pic (after crop), if you can PP and "enhance" them it will look really good.HTH

You are right about the highlights being blown. I shot this with the exposure set too low and when I tried to lighten it up a bit that is what happened. This was also my first attempt at editing with Photo Shop.

    Thank you.

Underexposure is easy to fix. Overexpsore is not. So we can probably help you make a better version of this. Did you shoot it RAW? What version of Photoshop do you have?

The photo was shot in RAW and I have CS4. I forget which steps I took during the processing. This one was done a few months ago.

I appreciate your offering to help and would be very great full for any help you would give.

    Re: Mount Auburn Cemetery

There's conflict here. The road and cemetery are normal whereas the sky looks processed. It may not be, but at the least, it seems it was taken with a polarizer and/or red filter which makes the sky look amazing (!!!). That's a good thing, but I think it contrasts too much with the plain somewhat boring road. Hmm.
