    Mosquito shot needs suggestions.

I think I know the problems with this shot, but I would like to see your opinions. I think some parts are good, but as a whole, it doesn't quite work for me. So, fire away.

Good that the head is the part that is in focus but wish more was in focus.
Probably wide open shutter and that close makes it difficult, I'm sure.
Our mosquitoes don't look like that and its weird to see one on a flower instead of skin.
Don't know what you could have done better if you didn't have a dead one that still looks alive to pose for you.

I have taken quite a few insect macros and know they are not easy shots. I like the colors here, but not the composition -- it doesn't feel balanced -- and the lack of detail takes away from the shot. Where the focus is sharpest is where it should be though: on the eyes. With something so small, you need the lens stopped down to as small an aperture as possible, and even then it might not be enough.

I agree with frog, wish the entire insect was in focus. This is a reaaalll close up though, wow. I haven't taken any macro so I'm not sure how to do that. This type of photography needs to be tack sharp.
