freygr -- I like the top shot with it's foreground objects, which seem to frame the mtn. The bottom three are artistic, like the old soup cans. But the mtn is just too centered for me, and the sky wasn't cooperating. Maybe if/when it blows again, you can be nearby to get the shot, eh?

The top shot is better. Although it seems a bit misty (ihave never been around mountains this high), but I would wait for the right weather, and get it first thing in the morning or at sunset. You may want to try a double exposure, one for the foreground and one for the mountain/sky. As this is (and it may be typical of these types of scenes) it seems the mtn is underexposed, but it is still an improvement.

I am not a big fan of filters anymore (with digital anyway) but these all appear to perhaps need a bit of UV reduction to get rid of that 'haze' effect.

The fourth picture (third edit?) I like the colors but the post processing appears to have introduced a lot of noise.

The first of the four the before (the boom?) is probably my favorite as I like how the trees frame the mountain.

The plume is kind of ominous.

The first photo is 1976-77 in July or August. I think it was taken on a Sunday Morning as we were hiking out, at Norway Pass. You can see part of Spirit Lake in the photo. It was taken with a Nikon FTN with a 50mm f1.4 lense, with color negative film.

The other three photos were taken with D70 with 18-70mm kit lense and UV filter, masively croped. Bottom colors were normalize, midle the gama was plaied with.
