More fun at Red Rock Canyon

Here is another toyed with shot from my Red Rock Canyon visit yesterday. I wanted to do some true HDRI images -- but I forgot my tripod. So these will have to do.

    Hmmm.

Not a bad shot at all IMO. It has good depth and the lay of the land very interesting. I do like the effect but wonder if it would have been just as good or better w/o the effect? The clouds would probably be better as they didn't quite come out as good as the rest. Too bad there's not a rabbit or snake or something in the left side foreground. Nice work

I like it but somehow it just doesn't feel right. I think it's a little over processed for my taste. The contrast isn't right and maybe over sharpened. I dunno, something just isn't right for me. Mostly it's the foreground causing. I think the foreground is too bright for the sky.

I agree with what has been said, i think that so many parts of the image are white that your eye goes everywhere.

Thanks for the comments. Here is the original shot with a little Lightroom adjustment to knock back some of the white sky and lighten a bit of the joshua tree. It was a really cool time with the sun fighting to come through the clouds (but not quite). I was bracketing a little too much (+/- 2 stops) in hopes of not blowing out the sky and then trying to pick up the details in the shadows of the tree so I could do an HDRI image. Unfortunately I thought I had forgotten my tripod (I'm a dope, it was in my truck the whole time :mad2: ) and was hand holding -- so my HDRI didn't line up perfectly. I'll try again when we get some clouds.
