    Wow, I wasn't expecting to see something as close up as this when I opened up your thread! Interesting, how did you take this?? Shadows work nicely to empjasise the detail in this picture, without it , you would end up with a lot of white space as found on the left of the picture, am intrigued, how did you take this?!?!

    The photo was taken with a 16" f/19 (7,620mm efl.) cassegrain telescope, 1 second exposure.

    Here is another. The large prominent crater near the lower right is called Tycho. You can see the lighter ejected material streamed off from the impact stretching over hundreds of miles.

    Amazing. I would try longer exposure. It's interesting - what's the diameter of Tycho?

    I did bracket the exposures but the longer exposures tended to wash out a lot of detail.

    Tycho is about 53 miles in diameter.
