Smile The Moon Before the Clouds Struck

    Hello!

Cloudy night. Got a shot of the moon just before the clouds attacked it

Used Nikon D50 with 55-200mm telephoto lens.

The clouds around the moon are nice but I wish the moon itself wasn't so blown out.

Decent shot. Looks like you got some blur because the moon moved on you during exposure. Like Frog said, a little overexposed also. Usually takes about -2 f stops from what the meter reads, depending on how much of the frame is filled up by the moon, to get good detail on the surface. At least I think so, cause I experimented on this many yrs ago. Just adjust the shutter to be two f stops faster, as this will also help in freezing it and not getting blur.
