Not a bad view at all! I have to say, though, for me, the tent gets in the way of my view. For me, 2 and 5 tie for first, then 4, then 3, then the tent. Gorgeous shots!

I would go for 1 ... minus the tent and 5 the best.

    Re: Monument Valley morning...

I'm not a big fan of silhouettes, but the sky makes up for it here. Monument valley is also very recognizable and that make for a better silhouette. I think the sky is at it's peak in photos 1 and 2 and I prefer #2 without the tent. The tent could have been made a lot more interesting if it were lit from the inside. I also think all of these could have benefited from a light HDR treatment.

Overall though a nice job. Still, I wish it were me taking those photos...man I miss the west. Going back soon...

Nice shots. Just for kicks, next time you take a morning shot with a tent throw a bright LED aiming upward in the tent. You can throw a colored gel over the light for some effect too. It can really add to the tent in the photo shots. Otherwise, I just wish I had been there .

    so Beautiful

the sunrise colors in #2 are great,
#5 and the vertical format shows a lot more of the amazingly beautiful cloud formations

    Re: Monument Valley morning...

Hey, nice work. The first two are too dark, I would imagine because the sun was already down and the sky was not very illuminated, and/or there is underexposure as well.

The last one is very nice, but I feel there is too much sky and we lose interest fast because the real meat of the image is the silhouettes/shapes and the setting sun and colors.
That leaves #3 and 4, which are both really very good. Of those two I would say that #3 is the better. The placement of the setting sun in between the two formations as well as the sky having better clarity and detail make it the best overall.
However, the last one could be the best if you were to crop it the same as 3 and 4 because it has a bit more of the setting sun as well as a hint of detail in the lower shadow areas.
    Nice

Very nice shots ! I've been to MV a decade ago, very nice place. Suggestion for next time with the tent - the background is fine but try illuminating the tent from the inside with lights so that it glows, and make sure you expose for the background .. it will look neat against the sunrise. Might take a few expts to get the right tent illumination.

Nice. I like the second one best of the bunch.

The first has potential but I think I second the motion to stick a light in the tent. It's a bit too dark and the bottom blends in too much with the dark foreground.

    Re: Monument Valley morning...

I think they are all spectacular for what they are, but I would have tried to hdr them to pull out some detail in the foreground.

...which given the dim crap I am shooting now is totally hypocritical.
