    Model with gun

Another image from our Guns and Roses photo shoot in February. I added a serious effect to this one: does it work? Or should I stick with landscapes??

I like this one a lot GB. The rose in the helmet band is a very creative addition, and I love the olive drab eyeshadow Not sure what's going on with that vertical line running down the right side though, makes it look a bit like a scan from a 2 page magazine spread. Was it intentional?

    Re: Model with gun

Jim, that line is not intentional but an artifact from the effect I applied in Corel PhotoPaint. Unfortunately, it does this a lot and there doesn't appear to be a way to stop it ... I used to try going in afterward and editing it out, but that was a time pit and rarely looked natural (if that's a good word to use in an image like this!).

What I did here was mask off anywhere her skin was and apply the effect (called Local Equalization) to the rest. To me it looks a bit like a Star Trek stormtrooper , but I shot her a copy and she liked it, so all is good. The rose in the helmet band was an ad hoc idea we had that worked (ahh! love it when they work !!!!)

Shootme, remember not to use that name around models with guns. I like both landscapes and model photography btw, but am more advanced w/ landscapes. It will take a lot of learning and time to get up to the level I want with models, but considering who I'm working with --- that isn't so bad.

Good god that's nice. But really I want to see the rest of the pistol and her hand. Sexy as the rest of it is....

its nice shot, but I don't think the effect is doing anything for me.

Thanks man. I definitely like the looser crop. Personally I think her expression would look better with most of the threat in the eyes. I think her mouth would look better relaxed. But I am not about to criticize shots with models. Working with me and my wife, I realize the director role is actually kind of hard.

I agree with you! she's not a mean looking model even when she wants to be. I was trying to get her to look mad - her and another model - by telling them to look jealous, think of an old boyfriend who made ya mad, that sort of thing () but it just didn't work.

I also think the looser crop works here, but I now see that the vignette I added to it darkened out the rose on her helmet - a big mistake. I can prob fix that without much problem.
